MaXfield Inc. has an opportunity for a Process Engineer (CONTRACT) to work with our team.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Process design and technology selection;
  • Process safety and regulatory compliance;
  • Engineering & risk management best practices;
  • Reliability and efficiency in operations;
  • Provide process engineering support primarily for proposal work but performing detailed design work on the projects awarded;
  • Interface with the proposals and estimating departments to develop the most cost effective solutions;
  • Evaluate competing process technologies with consideration towards CAPEX / OPEX, operability, and HS&E;
  • Provide technical review and input to process designs for new facilities and brownfield modifications, including PDBs, P&ID's, PFDs, heat and material balances and process equipment datasheets;
  • Participate in project design reviews and engineering risk assessments to ensure proper application and regulatory compliance;
  • Provide process engineering recommendations on risk remediation action items resulting from HAZOP, LOPA, PSM and pressure safety valve (PSV) relief studies;
  • Trouble shooting and startup of facility process equipment;
  • Support the Management of Change process;
  • Lead in the development of internal engineering standards and best practices;
  • Interface with other internal engineering disciplines, EPC groups and equipment manufacturers.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 5 - 10 years of process experience in the oil & gas industry;
  • Knowledge and experience in process design and operation including simulation and process equipment specification. Common technologies will include refrigerated turbo expander plants, refrigeration plants, dehydration, acid gas treating, product sweetening, hydrocarbon storage, shipping and transportation;
  • Experience participating in HAZOP and LOPA studies including the close out of action items;
  • PSV and Flare calculation and specification experience is a definite asset;
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, NACE, NFPA);
  • Sound working knowledge of process simulation software including Aspentech’s Engineering Suite (HYSYS, Flare System Analyzer, Exchanger Design & Rating), PIPEFLO, PIPESYS;
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; and
  • Well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Midstream experience, both NGL/LPG/Condensate and crude storage, transportation and processing;
  • Heavy Oil including SAGD and mining technologies
  • Water treatment
  • Gas processing
  • Line heater and heat exchanger design
