Safety as Standard: MaXfield Takes Safety to Heart

At MaXfield, our core values include the protection of our team who work in our pressure asset manufacturing, pipe spooling fabrication and structural skid fabrication facilities in Crossfield and Calgary, Alberta; Brandon, Manitoba; and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This also extends to the protection of public health and of the environment.

Our core safety-related practices include:

  • A morning hazard assessment in all areas of the facility to identify potential risks for the coming work day
  • Weekly “tool box” safety meetings
  • Monthly safety committee meetings
  • Involvement by senior management on the safety committee
  • Ensuring that all necessary industry-related training is performed

MaXfield is certified by Alberta’s primary safety certifier, COR, receiving an annual internal COR audit, and an external COR audit every three years.

In addition, we have a full-time safety supervisor at our facility in Crossfield, who oversees the safety practices of our entire team and has the responsibility of training our co-ordinators, and making sure all our regulatory safety certificates are up-to-date.

Additionally, MaXfield performs annual environmental audits of each of its facilities to ensure there has been no contamination of soil or groundwater and to broaden the scope of our safety and cleanliness measures.

For our employees, we ensure that habits of good safety practices are second nature. However, complacency is never good practice, hence the regular intensive training programs MaXfield provides to its new and experienced employees, helping them gain awareness of the specific hazards of their work environment and learn how to diminish the risks.

Training and certification programs provided to our employees include:

  • Confined space certifications and training
  • Fall protection
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Identification System (WHMIS)
  • Partnerships in Health and Safety Program
  • Membership in the Manufacturer’s Health and Safety Association
  • Membership in ISNetworld
  • Membership in ComplyWorks

At MaXfield, we intrinsically believe that all employees, from entry-level to senior management, are responsible for our safety and environmental protection initiatives. It’s just one of the many ways we’ve broadened our definition of commitment to quality work.
